United Way of Kosciusko County Campaign in Full Swing

Activities are underway for the United Way of Kosciusko County 2012 Campaign. The goal for this year's annual fund drive has been established at $2.18 million; it is simply a target for the campaign cabinet. The involvement of existing partners and new participating businesses will make every attempt so the goal can be reached.

This year in conjunction to our 2012 campaign, our funding growth could literally double the investment in Kosciusko County. The Indiana Association of United Ways has offered local United Ways the INvest 1213 grant. This is a matching incentive for new dollars up to $202,232 for our community.

2012 United Way Worldwide Certification

The United Way of Kosciusko County has successfully completed all of the United Way Worldwide membership requirements satisfactorily and on time.

United Way Invests Campaign Dollars

United Way of Kosciusko County recently invested $1,566,448 in 52 local programs which will help people improve their lives in our community. United Way Vision Councils assess programs in the focus areas of education, income and health. This system of review assures donors their gifts are being used effectively and efficiently in Kosciusko County.

Stamp Out Hunger Event a Success!

Post Offices in Warsaw, Winona Lake, Claypool, Silver Lake and Milford were able to collect 9,040 pounds of food during this one-day event! Last year, 9,300 pounds of food items were collected and distributed to local emergency pantries to replenish depleted supplies, here in Kosciusko County. Our community's largest donation year was in 2005 when 14,500 pounds were collected!

United Way of Kosciusko County Adds to Staff

The United Way of Kosciusko County is proud to announce the hiring of two new staff persons and the promotion of another. Erin Smith was hired in late February as the new Community Impact Coordinator. Michele Bickel will start April 2nd as the new Campaign Coordinator. Also effective April 2nd, Monica Lyon will become the organization's Assistant Director, a new position recently added. The United Way of Kosciusko County will now have 4 full time employees and 1 part-time employee.

Local Volunteer Elected to State Leadership

Clare Baumgardt, Syracuse, Larry Welker, Greenwood, Kathy Ertel, North Vermon, and Sue Back, Indianapolis are the new volunteer leaders of the Indiana Association of United Ways (IaUW). Baumgardt is Chair, Welker is Vice Chair, Back is Treasurer and Ertel is Secretary of the volunteer lead state organization.

United Way of Kosciusko County 2011 Celebration

On Wednesday, February 15th guests attended the United Way of Kosciusko County Community Celebration luncheon. United Way leadership, area participants, and program representatives that are supported by our local United Way met to celebrate the outstanding achievements both in community impact and the most recent campaign. Everyone enjoyed a lunch provided by The Katering Kitchen.

The William P. Gordon Institute for Enterprise Development and United Way of Kosciusko Provide Tax Assistance Program for Local Community

The William P. Gordon Institute through the School of Business at Grace College and United Way of Kosciusko County have partnered to bring the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) to Kosciusko County for the second year.

United Way of Kosciusko County Makes a Move

The United Way of Kosciusko County has moved to better serve our community. The offices are now located at 3755 Lake City Highway, in the old Sprint Building. After being in the same office location for 10 years and exceeding the capacity there, the United Way staff began looking for a new office. The new location offers almost twice the amount of office and storage space and was offered to the non-profit organization at a substantial cost savings.
